Very fine silver tetradrachm of Ptolemy IX, circa 100 B. (see photo for more details), the Hellenistic ruler of Egypt and grandfather of Cleopatra. It has been made into a handsome pendant surrounded by heavy 14K gold. As you can see it is in mint condition. It depicts a portrait of Ptolemy on the obverse/front and an eagle on the reverse. The coin in no way as been altered. In New Orleans about 30 years ago. The piece is 1.25 wide.
